1775 Revisited

Indigenous people around the globe are being displaced by energy demands. Similar to how we first came to their land and took their property and raped their women. In America, killing off all the buffalo so there was nothing to sustain them.

Many of you will be pleased to find out we are doing it all over again.

“Chief among grievances is water – or the lack of it. The community’s water supply already experiences regular outages, and residents say it will be further threatened by stadium expansion due to increased demand”.

“Around 200,000 people live in the vicinity of the Azteca, which is adjacent to the historically working class neighbourhood of Santa Úrsula Coapa and water lies at the heart of residents’ concern. In 2019, media conglomerate Televisa, that part-owns the stadium, secured a concession granting it exclusive access to a nearby water well. Locals and community groups say that the move was illegal and that subsequent over-exploitation of the well has led to an increase in disruptions to the local water supply, and are calling for the authorities to take action“.

“The US government is breaching international human rights standards by moving ahead with a series of new lithium mines across Nevada without the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of affected Indigenous Peoples, threatening their culture, health, water and environment, Amnesty International said in a new research briefing out today”.

Canada, by contrast, has made Indigenous participation central to the renewable energy transition. The government has pledged over USD 40 million for Indigenous-led clean energy projects. These include solar power and heating systems designed and managed by Indigenous communities themselves. Such initiatives promote energy independence, local economic growth, and self-governance while advancing sustainability”.

These are some really ugly people we put in office. Substantiated by the fact that they simply take what they want.

I will add Australia to the list with Canada because I have personal knowledge they have taken great strides to recognize the rights of indigenous people. The rest of the world just takes.

We elect these people, put them in office, and after that – more fool you.

As far as I am concerned Australia and Canada are preeminent global leaders; superior to all nations. You have earned my respect by your governing philosophy, and obvious respect for human dignity.
