The President of the European Union is Ursala Von der Leyen (A female).

This statement is regarding the backlash from Israel’s treatment of Sumud hostages:

“Tajani said on Thursday on X that he had formally asked EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas to include the adoption of sanctions against Ben-Gvir on the agenda of the next meeting of EU foreign ministers”.

My prediction is this will quietly go away.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has called for a two-state solution and condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza as “unbearable” and “indefensible.” In September 2025, she proposed sanctions on extremist Israeli ministers and violent settlers, and a partial suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement over breaches of human rights and democratic principles. While criticized for an initially pro-Israel stance after October 7, 2023, she has since emphasized that “man-made famine can never be a weapon of war” and supports sustained humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Kaja Kallas

Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, has echoed von der Leyen’s concerns, calling the suffering in Gaza “unbearable” and stating that US support for Israel limits EU leverage. As of April 2026, she confirmed that 26 of 27 EU member states support sanctions on violent Israeli settlers, with Hungary’s political shift removing a prior veto. Kallas supports a two-state solution and has engaged directly with Palestinian leadership, including Prime Minister Mohamed Mustafa, to advance peace efforts.

Global Sumud is no doubt a publicity stunt if that is what you choose to focus on. We have all seen them before, especially in America. The question is; what do you think about the material? Did anybody force Israel to treat humans inhumanely?

Should everybody remain silent? “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. The problem is a failure to believe.
