Be advised Park Slope Food Coop is a private shoppers club in New York. Still huge. It has Jewish members who now face a decision. Jews can launch a massive campaign opposing the treatment – and will be heard.
A campaign against The Coop is useless; they voted. So to whom would any campaign target? They should target the partial State of Israel. Without a constitution, and barely more organized than Palestine – if at all. I am sure they have an embassy in NYC.
It was a political strategic maneuver that got it across the line; mimicking DC:
In an unprecedented virtual general meeting attended by approximately 7,000 of its 16,000–17,000 members, the coop voted overwhelmingly in favor of the boycott:
- 67% voted in favor.
- 31% voted against.
- 2% abstained.
Before the boycott vote, members successfully passed a resolution to lower the threshold for passing future boycotts from a 75% super majority to a simple majority (51%), a move that was critical for the boycott’s passage.
The boycott was sponsored by BDS, who of course is highly controversial because they are attempting to aid Palestine.
