6. So is the UAE “pro-Israel” or “pro-Palestine”?
Politically, the UAE is trying to be both:
- strategically aligned with Israel and the US,
- while diplomatically aligned with the broader Arab consensus on Palestine.
That balancing act is increasingly difficult, which is why you see:
- criticism of Israel,
- humanitarian support for Gaza,
- but continued diplomatic and economic relations with Israel.
That is the source of the apparent contradiction.
There is only one reasonable assessment of this activity yet to come. The UAE is akin to the Staff of Moses.
