Now that we are doing so well with our rare earth colonization. I have one question. If you could only choose one between drinking water and rare earth minerals, which would you choose?
At least 25 countries—home to one-quarter of the world’s population—face “extremely high” water stress annually, with recent crises reported in parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These include both lack of access and contaminated supply, often with deadly consequences.
I have already reported on Mexico, where the residents beside the big foosball stadium have no drinking water. The president was mayor. She did not sleep her way to the top, but it’s real close.
Now Indians are dying from tap water. We have solutions. There are water trucks in existence today that capture the humidity to drink. Where are our leaders.
The difference: rare earths make money, water does not. “People, can die – we need to make money”. But they do not actually say this, that would be too callous. They pretend as though the people being damaged do not exist.
Yes, I see Italy is struggling as well. However, she is addressing aging infrastructure – with pace. I only mention Italy because she is a large donor to the document below. So, Italy’s leadership becomes visible for all to see, kudos.
Fortunately, my water comes from The High Plains Aquifer, which also is beginning to struggle.
Different question; which has more value – peace, or water? How we spend our time is crucial. This world will never know peace. And time is a terrible thing to waste.
Are you getting what we need out of your leadership choices? Or are you just a piece in somebody’s political jigsaw puzzle?
